New Zealand dollar rose above 70 US cents

According to the latest data released, the New Zealand dollar rose above 70 US cents for the first time in around ten months amid speculation that the Federal Reserve might not raise interest rates and the Reserve Bank will not reduce its benchmark rate.

The New Zealand dollar rose to as high as 70.02 US cents and traded at 69.97 cents this evening in on from 69.21 cents yesterday. The trade-weighted index reached 73.50, which is the level recorded on 26 February, compared to 73.06 yesterday.

Milky Way International Trading Corp has initiated a recall for some of peach slices and mixed fruit under the brand Nice!

The recalled products may have glass pieces present in them and a company statement said, "Consumers could potentially be cut or injured if ingested." It's a nationwide recall and the brand was sold in Walgreens stores.

Gas Prices Rise in Connecticut but Still Cheaper than Last Year

In the recent weekly gas price reports, GasBuddy.com and AAA Northeast websites showed that gas prices continued to increase all across Connecticut.

Survey of two hundred and twenty nine gas stations by GasBuddy in the New Haven area showed that gas prices scaled 7.2 cents a gallon in the last week. With that, the mean gas price in the New Haven area lingered around $2.21 cents a gallon. Compared to the national average, the price is 10 cents a gallon more.  In the last week it increased 6.9 cents a gallon.

Verizon and Hearst Acquiring Complex Media in a Fifty-Fifty Joint Venture

Verizon is still continuing its media acquisitions. Last month, Verizon Communications Inc and Hearst Corp. formed, Verizon Hearst Media Partners in order to build online video channels that mainly targets the millennials.

On Monday, Verizon and Hearst Corp. said they are buying Complex Media, the online publisher which mostly caters to young men.

Reportedly, the deal for Complex's whole operation will be valued somewhere between $250 and $300 million.
