CBS Reports Strong Fourth Quarter Earnings Report

The company's revenue from advertisements increased only one percent in the last quarter but the network ad growth earned eight percent. Revenue saw a hike in all the four segments barring local broadcasting.

Sources said on Monday that Carl Icahn, the billionaire activist investor is accumulating his equity stake in Time Warner Inc.
However, those sources say that the activist investor's intentions are not very clear when it comes to Time Warner. There were no comments from either Icahn or Time Warner regarding the issue.

Media General will Take Over Meredith in a $2.4 billion Cash and Stock Deal

On ground the motivation for the deal seems to be the urge to reach the masses. Both mid-sized TV broadcasters hope to combine in order to get some influence in carriage and retransmission talks with the satellite and cable companies.

A series of commercials of DirecTV that feature the actor Rob Lowe along with a range of alter egos and demeaning the other broadcasting technologies has come under fire, as the watch dog group that keeps an eye on the advertising industry is seeking the discontinuation of those by the satellite broadcaster.
