Ramapo Officials Charged for Defrauding Investors in Bond Fraud Case

On Thursday, one elected official of Ramapo and the former executive director of Ramapo Local Development Corp, New York were charged for defrauding investors who helped in financing a minor league baseball stadium. The authorities said it was the first criminal securities fraud prosecution that involved municipal bonds. The intended baseball park was meant to be built in their town that lies northwest of New York City, about 40 miles from Manhattan.

The low oil prices may be hurting the energy companies but drivers in Massachusetts are happy. Since mid-2012, the gas prices have dropped by almost half since when the mean retail price was close to $3.59 per gallon. The prices has started crawling up a little by March this year but continued to be lower than $1.90 per gallon. According to AAA, in February, the gas prices slipped as low as $1.78. The drop in prices has mainly benefitted the state in two different ways.

On Monday, in an official announcement, the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) and three major unions reached an agreement of four-year contract extension. It includes raises and clauses that will avoid strikes which had earlier seen commuters face difficulty in 2013.

The tentative contract agreement includes 10.5 percent raise per employee in four years. The measure comes as officials of BART drive for a $3.5 billion bond measure to restructure its old infrastructure which will be voted for, in November.

Sunnyvale, California based Juniper Networks Inc. said its first quarter results for 2016 are going to be disappointing mainly due to weaker demand and adverse timing of customers' adopting the company's products.

Reportedly, the company that develops and markets networking products said for the quarter it expects to report adjusted profit of 35 cents to 37 cents a share on $1.09 to $1.10 billion in revenue. The company is expected to report its QI results on April 28.
